Top of the league - finally

Top o' the league and yer no' Celtic!! hahah so yeah what a good time it is to be a bear even though it is early doors in the season, and there is still a long way to go but based on Saturdays result and performance it seems we are on the right rosad. Lets hope we don't lose focus on the road ahead and stick to it.

The deadwood situation is still going on and Namouchi I understand will be bidding au revoir to Ibrox this week to go to Lorient for 450k and he will not be missed by many within Ibrox or indeed the fans. He may turn out to be a great player in a few years but I doubt that will happen as he lacks that bit of oomph you need to succeed at the top level. Novo, Fanfan and Bernard will be next hopefully and I will sorry to see wee Nacho go but then he doesn't have what it takes to perform consistently at the top level either but he is due for praise for the contribution he made in the league title win of 2 years ago.

Tomorrow we play Zenit St. Petersburg in a friendly and I can see players who haven't featured much to come in, but even still its another opportunity for the players to get to know each other better and that has to be good.
So if you are going, enjoy the game and I will be back on Thursday.

That's Right Rangers

Thats more like it Gers!! What a game though, it was a pulsating first half and what amazed me was the fact it was goalless at half time. By rights we should have been 2 or 3 goals ahead if it wasn't for the heroics of Craig Gordon, who for me is one of the best young goalies in Europe just now. The balance was right yesterday and Le Guen was quite right to make the changes he did and the end result certainly justified the means.
A big well done to Boyd for getting both the goals, he did everything right with the penalty, hard and into the corner and a good header for the 2nd, which was aided by a lack of defending, but the chances are there to be taken and take them he did.
Prso was immense as were his partners in crime in the supporting cast with Martin and Burke running riot, especially Martin. We have ourselves a real gem in Martin and he is so good with the ball at his feet and his non stop running and was an absoloute joy to watch whether it was beating players by running past them or the wee flicks here and there and all I can think is that its a shame he will only be with us for a season at the most as I understand his loan deal runs out in January. In trhe holding role the two French boys showed that as well as the subtle passes and ball retention skills they can mix it too and their tackling was immense and the way they played gave the Jambo's little chance to exert any real pressure in the final third. Leitzi was solid too and cut out the eccentricities from his game and won many crosses too which is a good sign as it takes the pressure off the defenders. I should also applaud the save he made from Augiar's free kick. It is the sign of a good keeper when having next to nothing to do that he pulls off a top class save like he did when the game was still goalless otherwise there may have been a very different end result.
Speaking of which they did a quiet but effective job when necessary. The centre backs wre solid enough and full backs did ok on the flanks but at times the crossing was poor especially from Stevie Smith. But it has to be said that neither were tested enough.

Onto the fans behaviour then, and nothing to report bigoted chanting wise, but one thing that made me and a few others round me was in the 88th minute when some fans were leaving, two wee boys maybe about 9 or 10 were leaving and one was standing on the steps, prompting the guy in front to say "Sit down". One of them walking to the exits then shouts to him, "Don't tell me to sit down, ya wanker!" which had us all laughing and that really is as offensive at it got. What offended me was one of the Hearts players hitting a ballboy for not throwing the ball to him accurately enough. That could have caused a lot of trouble and in my mind the SFA should investigate this, if not the police as that in legal terminology was an assault.

So there we go then a good win and great performance and its a good day to be a Ger seeing as how we're top of the league for the first time in a year, lets hope we stay there til the end of the season!
