Five Days to Go! - July 25, 2006

So 5 days to go then and I for one cannot wait. Phoned up the club today and got my first ever season ticket in the club deck so I am well pumped about that and heres looking forward to the PLG era and good days ahead for the club.

Todays news of note has to be the news that this may well be Dado Prso's last as a footballer due to his knee injuries. This is a big blow for him and indeed Rangers as to my mind he has been our best forward in terms of all round play for some time and he will be a great loss if he calls it a day. He is a prime example that late developers can have a good career and while his early years were somewhat fruitless, he blossomed into a fine player and I am sure the vast majority of fans will wish him well and have fond memories of him in a blue shirt. The question now is who will replace him and will be interesting to see who does. As Bendtnar is not going to be loaned to us we are down one option and I would be surprised if Felip Sebo joins us too based on the postion that Austria Vienna have taken. I understand that they are looking out for their interests, but is it in their interests to keep a player who doesn't want to play for them? I think not. If the boot was on the other foot then I am sure that Rangers fans would want rid of unwilling players and rightly so.

Speaking of which Olivier Bernard played as a trialist for Sheffield Utd last night and lets hope to god something can be arranged to get this mercenary off the payroll and free up more cash to get players who want to be at Rangers even if its a bosman signing on big wages.

One thing i didn't touch on yesterday was David Murrays to sell up in a couple of years and I have to agree that 20 years is a hell of a long time to be at the helm of a club, especially one that has such an expectant support like we do and while he has made mistakes he has been wonderful for us and underwritten many a happy day and we should be very grateful to him for all he has done for the club. Hopefully we will get another excellent chairman and not an outsider who will make us a laughing stock like a certain Lithuanian and a certain wee guy with a bunnet who made his money in Canada.

ok thats yer lot folks, til tomorrow then.
